Skybridge Capital's Scaramucci predicts that Solana will surpass Ethereum.

Anthony Scaramucci arrived at the Solana Breakpoint conference in Abu Dhabi wearing a tie—a subtle rebellion amid a crowd dressed in hoodies—and then made a much bolder statement on stage: Solana will “flip” Ethereum.

Scaramucci’s prediction isn’t framed as a Twitter-fueled, zero-sum declaration that “ETH is dead.” Instead, he sees both in the same league, on different growth trajectories, with Solana ultimately reaching a larger market cap. “I think it will flip Ethereum, but that doesn’t mean Ethereum is going down or anything like that. I think there’s going to be market share for Ethereum. They could both grow, but from a market capitalization perspective, I think Solana will end up growing faster,” Scaramucci told CoinDesk Live on December 11.

This has been his stance for a while, but this time he brought a prop: his new book, Solana Rising, released on December 9, which he says quickly topped Amazon’s “new releases” list for investment management and strategy. He described the book as something for skeptics, or at least for the friends of believers.

The pitch will sound familiar to anyone who has attended crypto conferences this year, but Scaramucci’s take is unusually direct: Solana is the fastest-growing blockchain, packed with activity, cheap to use, and easy to build on. Add staking into the mix, and you have what he repeatedly calls “great tokenomics.”

And yes, he’s heavily invested. “Full disclosure,” he said, “I have a large personal holding in Solana. I have it on the firm’s balance sheet.” How large? At SkyBridge, he estimated Solana makes up “probably 60%” of the firm’s portfolio, which he described as “north of a nine-figure balance sheet.” His personal allocation is around “6% to 7%”—significant, but not “I sold the house for SOL” significant.

Notably, Scaramucci emphasized that he is not “chain monogamous.” He likes Avalanche. He likes Ethereum. He isn’t a maximalist; he’s building a portfolio. “In fact, who is chain monogamous?” he joked.

The SkyBridge Capital founder explained, “It’s not an amorous thing. It just has to do with the realities of investing. It’s like owning a lot of stocks in your portfolio. But to me, I just think it is the fastest-growing chain. It has the most activity of the top 50 chains combined. It’s got lots of use cases, lots of versatility. It’s easy to develop on, it’s very low fees to transact on, and it’s got great tokenomics if you want to stake your Solana like I do.”

He also pointed to the debut of the first spot Solana ETF in the United States—the “first staking ETF,” as he called it—as another sign that the market is still early.

Then came the price predictions. Could SOL reach $300–$400 by the end of next year? “Sure,” he said, linking that possibility to a more constructive U.S. regulatory environment—specifically, his hope that the CLARITY Act passes and unlocks “the full utilization of tokenization.” Looking further ahead, he was even more optimistic: “Will Solana go to $1,000 over the next five years? I really do believe that.”

He also revisited Bitcoin, with a similar theme: right on the trend, wrong on the timing. “I’ve been right about Bitcoin, but I’ve been wrong about timing,” Scaramucci said, maintaining a target of $150,000–$200,000 and suggesting a friendlier interest rate environment next year could help.

At the time of reporting, SOL was trading at $139.14.
