As Hyperliquid (HYPE) hits new all-time highs, Arthur Hayes has placed a six-figure bet that the token will keep rising and outperform Solana (SOL) in the coming months.
Arthur Hayes Doubles Down on Hyperliquid
On Sunday, BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes reaffirmed his bullish outlook for Hyperliquid, saying the token will outperform the top cryptocurrencies by market cap. In an X post, he challenged longtime Solana supporter and Forward Industries Chairman Kyle Samani to a “gentleman’s charitable bet” on which token would perform best by the end of the year.
“I’m putting $100k on the line for a charity of your choice that HYPE outperforms any other current top ten crypto in USD terms from now until year end. Who’s your champion?” Hayes wrote.
Samani accepted, choosing Solana as HYPE’s rival. Notably, the Forward Industries chairman has been openly critical of Hyperliquid, previously claiming that “Building trust goes against how Hyperliquid operates” and calling it “Binance 2.0” in terms of its US regulatory status.
Hayes’s bet reflects his confidence in HYPE’s future price movement. He recently stated that Hyperliquid “should at least overtake SOL before this bull run is over,” pointing to how most top cryptocurrencies perform on short and mid-term timeframes. Earlier this year, he also predicted the token could hit $150 by August 2026—roughly 5 times its then-$30 price—even if the broader crypto market stays weak. Since then, HYPE has already surged nearly 2.4 times, flipping Dogecoin (DOGE) to enter the top 10 cryptos by market cap and hitting new all-time highs over the past few weeks.
HYPE To Rally To $163?
Over the weekend, Hyperliquid broke past the $65 resistance and started a multi-day price discovery run that began on Friday. After breaking $70 on Sunday, the token jumped nearly 6% to reach a new all-time high of $74.18 on Monday morning.
Amid this performance, market observer Ali Martinez withdrew his earlier warning about a potential top, noting that “HYPE continues to make new record highs, pushing deeper into price discovery.” Last week, the analyst shared the “unpopular opinion” that Hyperliquid had hit its market top after reaching recent highs and showing sell signals on the TD Sequential daily and three-day charts.
As reported by NewsBTC, Martinez had highlighted that HYPE was “approaching a critical resistance area while multiple indicators are flashing warning signs” after its massive run. He pointed out that the token was showing a similar setup to the last two times TD Sequential sell signals appeared on HYPE’s chart, while the RSI and Chande Momentum Oscillator were also at overheated levels, leading to major corrections.
Based on that, he said Hyperliquid could still push toward $59 or slightly above $60 before momentum faded, warning that a rejection from that area could increase the chances of a drop back to the $40 support. Now, the analyst notes that these sell signals have been invalidated and shares potential price discovery rally targets of $97 and even $163 as momentum continues.
As of this writing, HYPE trades at $71.8, up 16.8% over the weekly timeframe.
